D is a 49 year old divorced lady .Her husband left her for a younger woman 8 years ago, She has raised her two sons alone since then now both are independent of her. She has a full social life and enjoys dancing, she has had a few relationships since her divorce but has not been able to fulfil a long term relationship. D says that she feels that she puts up barriers with men, she gets so far into the relationship, then backs off. She has met a particular man at dance with whom she feels a there is a mutual attraction.
He spends most of the evening dancing with her and they like each others company, how ever that is as far as things go. She had casually invited him out once but excuses were made that it was not convenient at that time. They had taken to e-mailing each other but he had not replied to her on the last communication. This had upset her. We talked about Freeway and the tapping procedure was demonstrated. 'D' agreed to try it. I asked her to talk about her feelings when with the man at dance and she recalled putting up barriers when with him. We discussed how she felt about the prospect of a relationship with him. I noted her words and from this the mil readings were taken. The last time she saw him was Monday night - she felt that she had backed away from him then. I asked how she would feel if he asked her to have a relationship - she replied that she would feel scared. She would feel out of her depth she would be frightened in case he made her feel a fool. She was angry with him for not contacting her yet giving signals of encouragement when together.
Above the word Scared and the word Angry are ok but not quite explicit enough always encourage your client to qualify and home in on the actual occasion when she felt scared. You might ask “scared of what”? She might then say something like "scared of commitment"; "scared of feeling a fool of myself"; "Angry with him”.
'D' was able to yawn well through out each round. We then continued to finalise this particular aspect by using the ear cupping procedure - I have now let go of this back away Monday night forever in all its aspects and on all levels of my being times three.
Carried out the invoicing procedure. 'D' explained that she felt hurt last night as he had not contacted her.
'D' was becoming very relaxed with her enormous yawns and continued on to the ear cupping procedure for this aspect. We talked for a while about her husband leaving and how he had successfully deceived her by having an affair with a younger woman and although the signs were there she did not acknowledge them. She felt that he had made a fool of her and that she could not let that happen again.
'D' carried out the ear cupping procedure for this aspect saying I have now let go of being made a fool of forever with great intensity and belief. 'D' said that she now knew why she backed off Monday night as she was frightened of being rejected again.
Ears cupping procedure performed. Very large yawns form both of us. I asked D if she was still feeling scared and out of her depth and which she would like to work on next. She considered this and stated that she no longer felt these feelings and that if he did not contact her it was not the end of the world. I taught 'D' the calm routine to enable her to use before going to dance if ever she needed it. She appeared to have much more sparkle in her than when she came in, her eyes were brighter, her face clearer and she was very jovial. |
