'J' is a long standing client of mine doing Personal Training with me since 3 years or more and we have achieved great results regarding her fitness level and to cure a lower back problem. Quite recently, she expressed a wish to seriously tackle her weight issue ('J' is about 3 stone over weight) and she is now losing a steady 1 to 2 lbs per week. One week ago, she told me of a problem (pain) in her right groin. We took it easy on the exercises and I suggested to her, that if it is still a problem a few days later she should contact me. This she did, asking if “I could do my magic on her” (I have done Reiki with her previously) or if she should consult her GP. My reply was that I was sure that I could help her but, failing that, she must go and see her GP. Knowing 'J’s background (knee problems, lower back problems, upper back problems, indigestion) I wondered if some, or all, of her problems might be related to an imbalance of the kidneys? Anyway: 8 points do it all, so I suggested to 'J' that she should see me as soon as she thought it was right for her. When 'J' arrived, she wanted to talk about an issue she had with suppressed anger. She told me that she had a very stressful morning and that she wished she would not feel upset by her anger (no mention of that groin problem she came to see me about). I asked her to bring back the feeling she had this morning and to give me an intensity reading on this MIL, explaining the 10 to 0 scale to her. It was a 7. We applied FREEWAY-CER and went through MIL arm check of where she was on the intensity level. 'J' was down to a 3. At the end of the second round 'J' was down to a 1 (checking MIL again). I asked 'J' if she wanted to get rid of this suppressed anger feeling and she agreed that she did. So I asked her permission to touch her (she agreed) suggesting that she should focus on her feeling while I did the tapping for her. So we did another round and 'J' was down to a 0. I then did a check on the suppressed anger feeling: 'J' was fine. I then moved the conversation to the topic she came to see me about: her groin pain. 'J' remembered (and reminded me) that she had a similar groin pain about a year ago which she thought was caused by an awkward move to step over her dog. We checked intensity (MIL) and it was a 6. We applied FREEWAY-CER and the intensity after the first round came down to a 2 and I asked 'J' if she wanted to get rid of this groin pain. Of course she did! That’s why she came to see me on a Sunday! Another round of tapping, , and 'J' was down to a 0 on the pain level. I asked 'J' to move around the room to try and bring back the painful feeling in her groin area. She felt fine and I and all I saw was a very happy face, looking completely flabbergasted and amazed. We finished the session with the CALM routine and I gave 'J' a little hand out and went through it with her to make sure she knew how to correctly apply FREEWAY-CER in case she needed/wanted to do CER on her own. I checked with her again on the groin pain and 'J' was happy to move her leg in all directions, which previously caused her pain. I also re-affirmed that in the unlikely event she was still experiencing pain in her groin; she must go and see her GP! 25 th June 2006 Important commentIt is inadvisable (or contra-indicated) to take pain down to zero until a diagnosis is obtained and then only with the permission of the medical practitioner. Un-diagnosed pain should not be taken down to a (0) especially if it is back pain, the reason for this is because it could be something more sinister, if the cause of the pain is known ie someone banged their elbow then it is ok to reduce it to a (0) also if we take pain down to a (o) the client could cause further damage because the area being treated is still healing and taking the pain away completely could give rise to the client over doing things and causing further damage. |
